Stage Three - Experiential Learning - ILM Approved
This exciting programme focuses on the theory behind experiential learning and how this can be applied in practical terms to learning events in a broad range of different ways. Attending this programme will greatly enhance a trainer's ability to design and implement learning beyond the normal training room boundaries. The programme will include the use of different media and settings, such as the outdoors, to inspire delegate centred learning which is challenging and informative, as well as highly creative.
It is approved by ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) Europe's largest leadership and management awarding body as a Development Programme.
All delegates will receive Righttrack Academy for Trainers membership. The membership provides confidential support for new trainers through their initial training experiences.
By the end of the programme participants will:
Understand and be able to explain what is meant by experiential learning
Know how experiential learning fits with how adults learn and be able to apply that knowledge to the design of experiential learning sessions
Understand the benefits and disadvantages of experiential learning
Know when to use experiential learning and what situations require alternative approaches
Be aware of the different role that a trainer plays when conducting
experiential learning events as opposed to training room based learning
Be able to set training objectives for experiential learning
Be familiar with the scope of different options available for experiential learning
and know why to select one in favour or another
Understand the practical elements of implementing experiential learning particularly
when using a more creative media
Know the importance of and how to complete a risk assessment
Know how to design creative scenario led learning sessions and extensive learning events
Have learned how to produce a lesson plan and supporting material for scenario led learning
Understand the principles of cognitive coaching
Have practiced cognitive coaching techniques
Know how to design drama based learning activity and have produced a session using
drama as a media for learning
Know how to design art based learning activity and have produced a learning session using art
Explored options for using the outdoors for creative learning
Designed a short outdoor learning session
Know the options for evaluating experiential learning
