Race in Equality And Diversity
The Race Relations Act and the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003 legally requires employers to protect employees from harassment on racial and religious grounds. All employers have a ‘duty of care’ to all their workers in order to demonstrate that harassment is a serious issue.
This customisable racial equality programme enables participants to recognise behaviours or attitudes that constitute racial discrimination.

This is a programme crammed with thought provoking content, challenging group work, colourful and engaging visuals and useful reference notes. Participants learn why it is so important to ensure equality of opportunity for everyone; how to avoid discrimination on the grounds of race and the consequences of not doing so. The programme clearly demonstrates how individuals and organisations that embrace diversity reap significant rewards.
Having completed the programme participants will be able to:
- Understand how race inequality and discrimination can arise
- Recognise racial stereotyping and institutionalised ‘ism’s’
- Be aware of our legal obligations
- Explore through media clips, scenarios and discussions to see what can be done to encourage race equality, respect diversity and challenge discrimination
- Improved employee relations
- Greater confidence in decisions and knowing how to embrace multi-culturalism in every aspect of the organisation
- Enables everyone to understand how they contribute towards their organisation’s responsibilities
- Minimises the possibilities of race discrimination and reduces risk of legal challenges
- Reduced conflict and confrontation through greater sensitivity and awareness
- Helps make the organisation a better place in which to work
This is designed as a one-day workshop but can be extended to give more depth or abridged to a half-day by reducing content and time spent on group and practical work.
