Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year
2008 seems to have flown by and to say that it has been an eventful year for Righttrack would be an understatement.
2008 has seen Righttrack take on more employees, enter new countries and have the biggest order book that we have ever had. It is no wonder we are all craving a mince pie and a sherry.
We are sure that you all have been equally busy and hope that 2008 has been a good year. We would just like to take this opportunity to sing …
“… we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
Righttrack Marketing Department Road Trip
Kuwait has always been an important market to Righttrack and many Righttrackers have visited Kuwait over the years, including Chris Banting, our Business Development and Marketing Manager.
To really understand Kuwait and find out more about our clients in the Gulf it was decided that Gemma Middleton, Righttrack’s Marketing Coordinator, should go out and experience Kuwait for herself with Chris.
Gemma said, “I am really excited for the Kuwait trip. I have heard and read so many great things that I am really intrigued to see what it is like first hand.”
To find out more about the trip, join our e-newsletter, as Gemma will be doing a write up for our January edition.
New Righttrack Photos
It has been a while since the internal team had their photographs taken and so we thought it would be a great idea to revamp the old photos. Thankfully the weather stayed fine, although if you look closely you may see a couple of the team’s teeth chattering!
We really enjoyed the day and would like to say a big thank you to Ken Davidson, our photographer and graphic designer. Without the banter, the day would not have been as enjoyable or successful.
To view our photos, be sure to visit the website at the beginning of 2009.
Zain Marketing School
Back in October, we launched Zain’s Marketing School for their employees in Kuwait. The programme has been given a rapturous reception with both parties thrilled at how the development project has gone from strength to strength.
The school consists of a range of mandatory and elective modules in key marketing principles, thus allowing the learning to be tailored towards each individual’s development need. The aim was to make the learning impactful, colourful and most of all ensure the transfer of learning into their day-to-day roles.
The school is still in the process of being delivered and so once it is finished we will be sure to write an in-depth case study to detail the programme highlights – we are sure that it will make an interesting read.
Righttrack’s Training Team is Growing; 6 New Associates
Righttrack are pleased to announce the arrival of six new associates, Stiaan Kritzinger, Colin Forster, Joanna Burke, Brian Dannatt, Duncan Kendrick and Tim English to their training team.
This year has been Righttrack’s best yet, which is why we have constantly recruited new talent this year. The new additions have added extra depth and a wealth of experience across all sectors to our training team, which is exactly what we were hoping for!
To find out more about our 6 new associates, please visit our trainer section.
We would just like to take this opportunity to welcome Stiaan, Colin, Joanna, Brian, Duncan and Tim to Righttrack.
Righttrack Launches the New Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB)
Every year TrainingZone holds a Best of Year competition and as we are quickly approaching the end of 2008 the nomination list has been published.
It gives Righttrack great please to announce that Gemma Middleton, our Marketing Coordinator, has been nominated for Best Contributor for her monthly column.
Gemma says, “It was a real shock to be nominated but I am delighted. I thoroughly enjoy writing my monthly column and so it is an added bonus to be nominated. The standard of writing is incredibly high so just to be thought of is amazing.”

Open Letter to UK Employers
On Thursday 23rd October the Daily Mail published an open letter to all UK employers stating “now is the time to invest in skills”. Righttrack has been saying this for years and so are pleased that top organisations are championing it as well.
The economic situation could be better, putting it mildly, and so we can see why there may be the temptation to cut spending, however we have seen the damaging effects this can have on workforces – what looks like an initial saving is actually a much greater cost in the long run.
If you failed to see the letter, we have up loaded it:
Now is the time to invest in skills
The letter makes a lot of sense so feel free to pass on the message. The stronger the UK workforce is the better for everyone.
Record Breaking Year
Over the past 4 years, Righttrack has experienced phenomenal growth and although the economy has been a lot harder this year, 2008 so far has not bucked the trend. The team has worked so hard and it is great to see the fruits of our labour paying off.
Righttrack is going from strength to strength in the UK and in the Middle East. In the UK we have more customers than ever before. In addition this year we have increased the number of clients we have in Kuwait as well as securing our first client in Bahrain. With future trips planned in the coming months to other countries in the Gulf things don’t seem to be slowing down – and we couldn’t be happier.
Berneslai Homes leadership development is Well Under Way
Over the past year, Righttrack has carried out a number of learning and development programmes for a range of Housing Associations and it was this month that we launched the Berneslai Homes modular Leadership Development programme.
Berneslai Homes kindly let our Marketing Coordinator, Gemma Middleton, attend their first module to give her an idea of what it is like from a delegate’s perspective. Gemma thoroughly enjoyed her day in Barnsley and said,
“The day was great and it really gave me a taste of what it was like to be a delegate on a Righttrack programme. The atmosphere was buzzing and I learnt a lot. The people were exceptionally friendly and very keen to learn, which was lovely to see. I was also given proper home made northern chips for lunch, which was an added and very well consumed bonus!
I would just like to say thank you very much to Berneslai for letting me attend the programme, it was very useful and it was great to meet you all.”
The launch was a complete success and both Righttrack and Berneslai Homes are excited to see how the programme develops, but more importantly the results that it generates.
Zain now has a New Marketing School
This month saw the launch of Zain’s Marketing School, designed and delivered for Zain by Righttrack in Kuwait. The project is extremely comprehensive and consists of 9 different subject areas, which cover the full range of marketing principles.
The programme is incredibly innovative, engaging and colourful as well as being exceptionally popular with the delegates. The school is due to run into next year and judging from the first set of feedback we have received the results will be fantastic.
We will be sure to keep you posted on how it goes!
It was back in January that the TrainingZone approached our Marketing Coordinator, Gemma Middleton, to write a monthly column for their newswires and so far, the relationship between Gemma and TrainingZone has developed well, with good feedback for the columns.
Due to the success, TrainingZone has now asked Gemma to attend the ‘Can we learn our way to happiness’ conference in London on the 2nd October. Gemma is delighted with the opportunity and said, “I am thrilled that TrainingZone thought of me when this conference was announced. It is a great opportunity for me personally and Righttrack and I am really excited about it!”
Righttrack would just like to wish Gemma luck at the conference. Make sure you all keep your eyes peeled for the feature that will be published soon in TrainingZone.
Righttrack has been operating in Kuwait for over 6 years now and due to the success and the great reception that we have developed, we have been in talks with companies in Bahrain. As with Kuwait, we have received a rapturous welcome and have gained some very positive feedback from a number of perspective clients.
A lot of hard work has gone into our trips abroad and so we are very proud, and in truth ecstatic, to announce we have secured out first client in Bahrain. The whole team is thrilled and based on first impressions we feel and hope that Righttrack will have a long and successful time in Bahrain.
We will keep you posted on our success in Bahrain so make sure you keep checking our news updates.
Righttrack and the Community Housing Group
Since September 2007 when Righttrack was awarded the project to develop the Community Housing Group’s managers, the two companies have been working closely to ensure the management programme was a success.
The programme entailed 4 modules, with the first one being a highly challenging, overnight experiential event and the remaining 3 modules were classroom based. One-to-one coaching was also used to help support the managers through their learning cycles and with the transfer of their learning. To add that little bit extra for the managers the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) accredited the programme.
The programme has now finished and was a resounding hit for everyone who was involved. The feedback has been amazing and the excitement is now at fever pitch as today is the day of the graduating ceremony.
Righttrack would just like to congratulate all of the managers who took part – without their enthusiasm the project wouldn’t have been what it was so well done everybody.
Over the summer, Righttrack recruited Frankie Middleton as a Course Administrator because of the growing demand for our training programmes. You would be forgiven for having a feeling of déjà vu, as Frankie is our Marketing Coordinator’s, Gemma, little sister.
Frankie joined Righttrack at the beginning of September and is here until she starts university next September. While some people may say that two Middletons’ would cause definite chaos, it seems to be working brilliantly.
Righttrack would just like to take this opportunity to welcome Frankie to the team and good luck in her new role.
Righttrack has a new Training Coordinator
Over the past two months, Righttrack has been conducting a recruitment drive to fulfil Lara’s role of Training Coordinator, as she is moving into a new Project Coordinator role.
The response was overwhelming and the calibre and performance of candidates were to an incredibly high standard, which was great news and left us very impressed.
After much deliberation, a decision was reached and the newly appointed Righttracker is due to start at the beginning of September. To find out how their first month goes be sure to visit this news page in September.
Righttrack would just like to say thank-you to all the candidates who participated in the process and wishes them luck in the future.
With the change in the weather brings a change to the Righttrack office. It was thought that a change was needed to refresh and rejuvenate the internal office to inspire the team for the second half of the year.
Righttrack has never been an organisation that shies away from colour (our logo is testament to this) and so it was felt that a bright new colour scheme was needed. So far the make over is looking great and already has had a positive effect on both the team and, it seems, the weather.
The make over is due to be completed in the coming weeks and so if you are planning on visiting us be prepared for a complete new look.
Record number of new Righttrack clients
2008 has been far from easy for any business and so digging in deep has been Righttrack’s motto, which seems to be paying off as Righttrack has broken a record for the number of new clients achieved in the past two months.
This is great news and Mike Cooney, Righttrack’s Director said, “We are extremely pleased with the number of new clients we have been able to sign up over the past few months. It is a great and just reward for the team, particularly when considering the difficult external environment being faced by all.
Traditionally training was one of the first budgets to be cut in difficult business times yet this year seems to be bucking the trend, which is incredibly important as by continuing to invest in learning and development gives employees confidence and new skills to use. It also allows organisations to take a proactive approach to tougher market conditions, which usually results in a stronger position once the business arena becomes more stable. So this is not just great news for Righttrack but for all UK organisations.”
So well done Righttrackers, keep up the good work!
Righttrack team members have been participating in the Breast Cancer Race for Life for over 3 years now and this year is no exception. Righttrack is pleased to announce that Gemma Middleton and Lara Gardiner successfully completed this year’s race on Sunday 6th July at Arrow Valley Country Park in Redditch.
The day of the race couldn’t have been any more uninviting with extensive rain, however thankfully this cleared up just before the race started. Both girls were pleased with their times and met their fundraising targets.
“As with last year’s race the atmosphere was amazing and the rain seemed to add to the buzz. I really enjoyed the race and am proud that I beat last year’s time by over a minute! I would just like to say thank you to all those who sponsored me and for the support” says Gemma.

Righttrack are now an ICAEW Partner in Learning
Righttrack have been providing finance for non-financial managers and graduates for a long time now as a basic understanding of financial principles is required for so many people in their working life.
Since the creation of our ILM management and leadership qualifications, many people have been enquiring about financial qualifications. It is because of this that Righttrack has become a Partner in Learning with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
The ICAEW is a world leading professional accountancy body, who work with the government and industry regulators to ensure the highest standards are met regarding financial development.
This status now enables Righttrack to work in conjunction with the ICAEW to offer qualifications in finance, which will be the perfect blend of Righttrack magic and academic theory.

The winner of 2008’s satisfaction survey is …
The satisfaction survey has been closed for a couple of weeks now and has generated some very interesting feedback and insights for Righttrack and the learning and development market as a whole.
As an extra incentive Righttrack offered a lucky prize draw for one respondent to receive a brand new iPod Nano and we are pleased to announce that the winner is Zoë Pickering, from Eddie Stobart.
The satisfaction survey is a great way for us to understand what is important to you and we would just like to thank all respondents for their efforts and views. The survey is a yearly occurrence so we look forward to seeing how / if your views have changed and we wish you all good luck with next year’s prize draw.
Righttrack Consultancy; exploring the world
For over 6 years, Righttrack has been building and maintaining strong working relationships in Kuwait. Due to the success and growing demand Righttrack are now starting to move into Bahrain.
The response has been incredibly positive and the future looks exciting. If all goes well, who knows, Righttrack could soon be coming to a country near you.
Satisfaction 2008 – the results are in
For the past 5 years, Righttrack has held an annual survey to find out about respondents views on Righttrack and the learning and development industry as a whole.
This year’s survey generated some interesting results. One of the key areas of research was how respondents rated Righttrack and the following criteria all received scores of at least 4 / 5 for the following:
- Capability of Righttrack
- Trainers’ Experience
- Quality of Learning and Development
- Creativity and Innovation
- Overall Rating
The findings of the survey were a great result for Righttrack as Kasmin Cooney, Managing Director of Righttrack said, “Over the past year we have worked incredibly hard to build on our proven success and take the findings of the 2007 Satisfaction Survey on board.
We are especially pleased with the results as it shows that the work and effort that has been put in by both the business team and our trainers has been worthwhile and more importantly appreciated by people who have dealings with Righttrack.
As always there is room for improvement and the findings have given us a good indication of our next steps.”
Righttrack would just like to thank everyone who participated in the survey as all views are gratefully received.
The winner of the iPod Nano will be announced shortly so make sure you watch this space!
Righttrack has always been keen to support good causes and for the past two years members of the internal team have been participating in the Race for Life and this year is no exception.
Gemma, our Marketing Coordinator, is taking part for the second time and is running at the Redditch race on Sunday 6 th July. This year Vicci won’t be taking part as it wasn’t long ago that her new daughter, Shannon, was born, however Lara, our Training Coordinator, is also taking part in the same race; a truly Righttrack affair.
Both girls are looking forward to the race and would be grateful for your help in raising sponsorship money; it is for a great cause.
To sponsor Gemma, visit:

Or to sponsor Lara email her on lara@righttrackuk.com
It isn’t often that Righttrack’s core training team are all together under one roof, yet to keep everyone up to speed on Righttrack’s plans for the future and all the new projects that have been happening, two open days were held.
Both days had high energy levels and a positive attitude exuded the Righttrack office. The open days proved to be a great success with new and thought provoking ideas generated. It was such a success that these days are going to be held regularly.
To find out what new projects will be introduced because of the day’s findings, why not sign up to our e-newsletter to ensure that you don’t miss out.
Over two weeks ago we launched our fourth annual Satisfaction Survey and we are pleased to announce that the survey is now closed.
The results in previous years have been incredibly interesting and positive for Righttrack and we are hoping that this year is no exception.
As we speak the results are being analysed, so make sure you come back to find out what they are – we promise it will be an interesting read.
Righttrack’s annual satisfaction survey
For the past four years, we have implemented annual Righttrack satisfaction surveys to find out more about our customers’ and enquirers’ opinions.
The survey has proved incredibly useful as it gives deep insights into what organisations are looking for in external training providers, what they think about Righttrack and if there are any development areas lacking in provision.
Each year Righttrack has received great results across a range of areas, including quality, creativity and innovation, which is one of the main reasons as to why 100% of customers say they would use Righttrack again year on year.
Hopefully we will keep this tradition going this year. The 2008 survey was launched on the 29 th April and we are thrilled to report responses are already coming in.
The survey will last two weeks and so the results will be published by the end of May.
Make sure you come back to find out what they were - we are sure they will be an interesting read.
Righttrack’s take on the CIPD annual survey highlights
As many HR and training employees know, the CIPD conduct an annual survey that focuses on elements that impact on the learning and development industry. The report is always in-depth and can be quite a fascinating read.
2008 has been reported to be a hard year for business in general, in particular for the training industry and yet the report found that many organisations are in the same position as they were 12 months ago and that their training budgets have remained the same.
Righttrack believe that this is positive news in light of the gloomy economic climate as developing and retaining employees to lower recruitment costs is becoming vital in remaining efficient and competitive, which is good for both organisations and employees.
Righttrack are soon to be launching their own annual satisfaction survey, which will help shed light on what organisations are looking for in external training providers. We will keep you posted as to when the launch is and the findings that it gathers.
The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) has always been an important and popular development area for Righttrack since the partnership began in 2006.
Over the past couple of years, the popularity has grown as many organisations want accredited business learning and qualifications. Having implemented some research into the presentation of information regarding business qualifications Righttrack found that the information available was confusing and lengthy.
It is for this reason why we have created a new Righttrack ILM brochure detailing information about the qualifications and development programmes in a clear, concise and attractive format.
If business qualifications are an area of interest, download our ILM brochure or contact us to speak to one of our specialists.
The first quarter of 2008 is nearly at an end and it has flown by. A lot has happened at Righttrack, from babies being born to stronger relationships being built in Kuwait to the launch of our new brochure – it is no wonder that we haven’t stopped.
With 2008 being our most ambitious year yet it is great that it has been a strong start for us and we are still on course to meet all of our objectives.
We have an exciting product launch coming next month, which we hope will please and be of use to you all – I am afraid it is a secret until then so you will have to wait and see.
We hope that you all have had a good start to the year and we will be sure to keep you posted on our activities via our news page.
It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, yet Easter is already upon us.
The Righttrack team would just like to take this opportunity to say Happy Easter and we hope you don’t feel too sick after scoffing 100’s of Easter eggs.
Righttrack have a vast range of products and services and many of you will know this if you have either downloaded or received our prospectus. Due to the size of the prospectus and the fact that often people don’t exactly know what they want or need, we thought it would be a great idea to create a smaller brochure that outlined our services and tell you more about Righttrack and how we do things.
We are proud of the brochure and so far, we have received some great feedback. We tried to make it different to any other learning and development company, as this is how we see ourselves.
Download our Righttrack brochure here.
We would love to hear what you think about the new brochure, so get in touch to let us know your thoughts.
Stress really is the talk of the month
At the end of February, we released an article discussing why it is so important that organisations deal with stress effectively. Since it’s launch we have had a number of magazines interested in using the article as it is extremely topical at the moment.
We thought that the stress article would generate conversation as so many people are affected by stress and organisations are now being expected to help deal with it, yet we were surprised with the level of response it got.
The articles are due to be released in April and will be included in next month’s e-newsletter, so keep an eye out for them – they really do make an interesting read.
We are pleased that we helped to generate more awareness around such an important issue and are more than willing to offer advice or talk through potential development initiatives – get in touch to find out more.
We have a journalist in our midst
Righttrack are pleased to announce that Gemma Middleton, our Marketing Coordinator, has been asked to write a monthly column for the TrainingZone newswires. The column is based on news events concerning learning and development and the training industry.
Gemma says, “I am really excited about the column and have just submitted my first article. I enjoy writing articles, particularly around news events, as I like to research around the topic, giving a fully balanced picture of the story. It is these types of pieces that I feel capture people’s attention. My first article is published on the 3 rd March and I can’t wait.”
Righttrack would just like to wish Gemma good luck and we cant wait to read your next article.
New stress management programmes
Stress is now an important topic that many organisations are being forced to address as it is causing major problems such as demotivation, high staff turnover and high absence levels, all of which have large negative impacts on an organisation’s success.
To address this growing problem Righttrack have created a stress management programme to allow organisations to tackle stress head on. It has been successfully implemented in the Middle East with great praise from the programme’s delegates.
The programme consists of exercises that allows delegates to understand the relationship between stress and pressure as well as covering aspects such as recognising stress in yourself and other people and ways to address stress effectively.
Find out more information about our stress management programme here. If the programme is not exactly what you are looking for we can tailor it around your needs and learning objectives. To find out how please contact us.
Ghassan and Andrew receive their rewards
Last month we announced our top two delegates for 2007 and praised them for their contribution and dedication to their learning and its implementation into the workplace.
After the announcements both delegates received their iPod Nano prize and both seemed thrilled with their achievement. Each delegate met with a Righttrack Director during their prize presentation, which all parties enjoyed. The Directors enjoyed meeting with the delegates and took the opportunity to find out more about their views on learning and development, as well as what they had gained from attending the programme.
Righttrack would just like to congratulate them again and wish them all the luck for the future.
Righttrack has a new little bundle of joy
Righttrack is pleased to announce the arrival of Shannon Paige Whelan, weighing in at a light 4lbs at 3.40 am Friday 8 th February 2008. She was eager to meet her Mum, Dad and brother and since she was born has been the apple of everybody’s eye.
We would just like to congratulate Vicci, Jim and Ryan on their new arrival and we can’t wait to meet her.
In 2007, we launched the Righttrack Delegate Awards to reward two delegates who demonstrated outstanding participation during programmes and the implementation of the learning into day-to-day working life.
We had many nominations and today we are pleased to announce the winners. The winner of the ‘Delegate of the Year’ was Ghassan Ayyad, who works for Zain (formerly known as MTC Vodaphone), over in Kuwait. The reasons behind his nomination and his overall win are:
- Ghassan demonstrated an excellent level of contribution to the discussions throughout the 3 modules
- His retention of information and the subjects learnt impressed the trainer
- Ghassan has always demonstrated an interest for the subjects and his input was consistent and assured even when the subject material required greater levels of concentration
- He asked questions and sometimes challenged ideas but always with a positive manner
The winner of the ‘Learner of the Year’ was Andrew Smith from ISS, here in the UK. The reasons behind his nominations and his overall win are:
- Since attending the sales course Andrew has now achieved and exceeded all of his sales targets
- Since he came back from the course he has increased his closure rate and is always looking at proactive ways to close a sale
- The course has had a positive impact on Andrew, who in turn has had a positive impact on the rest of the team in terms of benchmarking and setting an example of what can be achieved
- Andrew utilised his Righttrack learning log to record key learning events – one of the criteria for winning the award
To mark their success both winners are receiving prizes in the coming weeks. Check back on our news stories to see pictures and thoughts from our winning delegates.
After the Christmas break it was great news to learn that the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) had awarded Righttrack with a top regional centre award. The reason behind our success and receiving recognition from the ILM was because of the continual expansion of our Righttrack ILM awards.
Since we started working with the ILM, our development awards have been incredibly important to us and we are thrilled that our relationship is going from strength to strength.
The Righttrack team would just like to thank the ILM for it’s recognition and we hope that our relationship continues to develop.
At the end of 2007, the Righttrack internal team had a reshuffle in order to support 2008’s objectives. This year we are really pushing ourselves to make it the best year in Righttrack history. In order to do this the plans for the next three years are very ambitious and so we have had to reorganise the team.
In her 17 years at Righttrack, Vicci Whelan has had a number of job changes. Her role now is Key Account Manager. Halfway through 2007, Vicci’s role became sales orientated and since then she has loved every minute of it. She proved that she was worth her weight in gold in the sales team and because of this is now in charge of her own Righttrack clients.
Chris Banting has been in charge of marketing since he joined Righttrack in 2003 and has had great success. Entering his fifth year, his role has now developed into our Business Development and Marketing Manager. Chris says, “I am really looking forward to the new challenges that are ahead. Business development has always interested me and so this seems like a very natural progression.”
Gemma Middleton has now been with Righttrack over a year and as her experience has grown so to have her responsibilities. She has now been promoted to Marketing Coordinator and has greater control over Righttrack’s marketing activities. Gemma says, “I was thrilled to get the chance to have more responsibilities. My new role is a lot more challenging and I am loving the sense of achievement that comes with it.”
Last year flew by and the Christmas holidays were no exception. Having had a well deserved break, the Righttrack team are now back in full swing and we would like to take this opportunity to say Happy New Year!
We are very excited about 2008 and we hope that it will be a good year for everyone.
