righttrack ... a little bit of magic

July 2010

Hi

July has nearly been and gone and a lot has happened; Spain won the World Cup, Cheryl Cole caught Malaria, BP's chief executive decided to jump ship (or is that oil rig?) and David Cameron managed to annoy Pakistan by answering just one question! As it has been so busy we have featured some of the most topical news in this month's In Focus and Thought of the Month pieces.

We have got Graham Proud, one of our most popular trainers to write the Trainer's Tip; he has chosen to focus on body language, it makes for some interesting reading!

We hope you enjoy ...

Trainer's Tip

Graham ProudBody language. The hidden form of communication; well technically we use the word 'hidden' loosely as I am sure we have all been in situations where a person's body language couldn't be any more obvious without the use of a sandwich board!

Our silent language is incredibly important, which is why Graham Proud, an experienced Righttrack trainer, tackles the issues surrounding facial expressions and body language in this month's trainer tip; vital elements to master for future success in both your private and work life.

In Focus

Gemma MiddletonEvery month there seems to always be something in the papers about one of our major politicians saying something that is seen to be inappropriate, which seems quite unbelievable considering someone is paid to write 90% of what they say in the public domain!

Communication is a very important tool for everyone although it would be fair to say that it probably isn't given the focus it always deserves, which is why Gemma Middleton is putting communication under the spotlight for this month's In Focus piece.

New at Righttrack

New at RighttrackThe diversity of the UK is arguably one of its main strengths, yet it is also one of the main areas that causes businesses so much trouble because of a simple lack of awareness, knowledge and respect.

Righttrack has delivered hundreds of equality and diversity training programmes. Whilst equality and diversity training can initially be met with trepidation by a small few, normally individuals that are in most need of training, the comments after a programme show just how worthwhile the entire experience has been.

Legislation is continually changing. Take the latest scrapping of the retirement age and the soon to be announced cap on immigration, all of which means there is a constant need to be mindful of diversity issues.

Righttrack has an extensive equality and diversity collection, which includes, age diversity, disability equality and The Equality Act 2010. To find out more get in touch.

Thought of the Month

Thought of the MonthJohn Freshney has posed the following thought for July:

"As a trainer, when asked the question, "what is the meaning of accountability?" it is sometimes hard to find a good example. So, if anyone wants an example of what accountability means, then they need look no further than at Tony Hayward, the out-going BP Chief Executive.

The Deep Water Horizon disaster has taken its toll on the environment, the value of BP shares, and finally (and some might say deservedly) on BP's long time Chief Executive, Tony Hayward."
