Clearly the streamlining and cuts across the public sector and ways of achieving them are being integrated into Management Training for Majors and other managers in the back office HR department.
To save the scarce time resource of unit Commanders having to have a ‘sorry to let you go’ conversation with many of its (older) Warrant Officers it has sacked them by email. As those who previously have attended management training in the force the module on communication would have included a session on selecting the most appropriate communications media. This has, apparently, been substituted with an instruction to ‘Shout like a bronchitic donkey when on the parade ground’ or email at every opportunity, particularly in situations where a face to face conversation could use up precious time.
Whether or not the offending major who emailed the dismissal notices has attended the new Management Training it is likely he will be on the same outplacement training as the Warrant Officers before long.
