ILM Approved Programme in Fine Wine Commerce

The Antique Wine Company logo

Client requirement

The Antique Wine Company supplies fine wines to some of the most discerning clients around the word. The company had doubled in size over the last five years and wanted to maintain its strong sales growth by providing professional, recognised training covering sales, buying and marketing roles. The Company aims to become the employer of choice for those seeking to advance their careers in the international fine wine sector. The course had to build progressively over three levels, be flexible to run in short sessions to attune with the time demands of those attending and be externally approved.

Solution

Righttrack was identified for its experience and specialisation to develop a bespoke two-year programme covering three levels of development; Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced. The resulting "Programme in Fine Wine Commerce" covers all aspects of interaction with clients including buying, selling client services and account management. Prior to launch the entire programme was submitted to the Institute of Leadership and Management, Europe’s largest leadership and management awarding body, as an ILM registered development programme.

Result

The first group of eight delegates have just completed the first foundation level element of the programme and have been awarded their ILM certificates. The response to the programme has been very positive with learning being delivered in one-day workshops over three months. The programme has changed the way the participants interact with clients, by phone, face-to-face and by email. The enhanced communication and account management skills have further built confidence and professionalism.

BVRLA Accredited vehicle inspection programme

British Car Auctions

Client requirement

BCA, Europe's No. 1 Vehicle Remarketing Company has a large team of drivers and vehicle inspectors across the UK. It required its driver and inspection training to be prepared to a standard suitable to submit to the industry body BVRLA (British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association). This required full trainer guides, supporting materials and visuals following current best practice. The training provider was also required to have expertise to train the in-company training team to deliver the accredited course.

Solution

Righttrack is an existing supplier to BCA, recognised for expertise and quality in training design and delivery. An initial feasibility study was used to produce a synopsis of the courses to be written. Once these were signed off, full courses for Bronze and Silver level inspector training were prepared with the Righttrack specialists working closely with BCA inspectors and HR manager. The courses were then taken to BVRLA for approval

Result

BCA now has industry-leading courses which provides uniformity and impact in teaching new inspectors and drivers to inspect vehicle accurately and consistently. The training further raises the standard of service to customers and ensures that at the end of a contract vehicle are accurately appraised to identify any rectification work required and to inform the remarking process.

Merchandising Team Leader programme

Carlisle Retail logo

Client requirement

Carlisle Retail is a market leader in merchandising services and part of the Impellam Group. It selected Righttrack because of its management development and Gulf countries experience, to partner in creating a bespoke and comprehensive training programme. The course was for merchandising managers working for Carlisle Retail’s client, Saudi-based Al-Asriyah, part of the major trading house Basamh Trading Co. The course was required to integrate first line management skills and to formalise merchandising skills and knowledge for City and Zone managers working across Saudi Arabia.

Solution

Righttrack and Carlisle Retail consulted with the client and worked closely to formulate a programme that fulfilled the client’s requirements exactly. The 5½-day course included 3 days of management and leadership skills with the final module focussed on merchandising theory and practice. Three consecutive programmes were held in cities across Saudi they were facilitated jointly by a Righttrack development consultant and a Carlisle Retail merchandising specialist.

Result

The immediate impact of the training was to change the approach of the managers who attended; both in the way they managed their teams and how merchandising is fulfilled for the retail outlets across Saudi Arabia.

Currently, there is no recognised management training specific to the merchandising industry in the UK; Righttrack is therefore creating a new course for UK merchandising team leaders and supervisors ready for ILM approval. This new 3-day course will provide attendees with both management and merchandising skills and knowledge and an ILM development programme certificate.

ILM Approved Management Development programme

Community Housing group logo

Client requirement

This major player in the social housing sector required a management and leadership development programme completely bespoke to reflect their distinctive management culture, competency framework and vision for the future. The requirement was for a practical, modular programme to extend the learning over a six to nine month period. The client was keen to have this programme designed for all levels of management including the directors and to have it endorsed with ILM approval.

Solution

Righttrack worked in partnership with the client to design and implement a comprehensive ILM Approved programme comprising pre-programme assessments, individual pre-programme feedback, an experiential event as well as three, two day modules. The first module was based on experiential learning techniques and was designed to encourage managers to understand individual comfort zones and to see where they could move the boundaries. This involved delegate groups in living and working within a specifically prepared scenario outdoors over a two day period. The outcomes were thoroughly reviewed and linked with each delegate's pre programme assessment. Delegates went on to attend two further, training room based modules. Each module was linked with a practical work based assignment, designed to help delegates transfer the learning from the training room to the work environment. Throughout the development period, delegates were provided with one to one coaching. The development programme was completed with a wonderful graduation ceremony where delegates received their ILM Awards and celebrated what they had learned from the programme.

Result

The programme ran for 3 years and all levels of management attended. The programme was also amended to ensure it was appropriate for new starters and those with management potential. The outcomes included; better management of staff, improved departmental communication, an improved awareness of team work and communication and the establishment of a common management language within the organisation.

Righttrack has subsequently been retained to deliver a number of other ILM recognised programmes for The Community Housing Group.
