Computacenter Logo

Client requirement

Computacenter is Europe’s leading independent provider of IT infrastructure services, with revenues of £2.7 billion and 10,000 employees. As part of Computacenter’s continuing drive to strengthen its leading position in the highly competitive IT market, it sought to use the 2010 Equality Act as a springboard to tap into the talents of all its employees.

Barry Hoffman, Computacenter’s HR Director comments: "We need managers that are equipped with the skills and knowledge to tackle whatever comes at them effectively and with confidence against a background of constant change. We have a diverse workforce and from time to time we need to take stock; be mindful of how others think and feel, and sometimes realise that what is normal and everyday to us, isn’t always normal and everyday to everyone else."

Solution

Righttrack developed a bespoke programme to train nearly 800 managers from all levels and departments and across multiple sites. Matching the trainer’s facilitation style to company culture was crucial to the success of the project. A pilot session provided an opportunity to review the programme content and receive feedback before official roll-out. An amended version was designed for the senior management team and a high-level programme for the HR team.

Result

Computacenter anticipates the benefits of the training will include recruiting and retaining talent from all sections of society, as well as equipping managers to tackle issues surrounding inappropriate behaviour. Feedback from the managers was excellent with 100% agreeing that ‘the learning met with personal learning objectives’ and ‘the event was challenging & stimulating’.

Forestry Commision Logo

Client requirement

The Forestry Commission was working to comply with the requirements of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and required training for its managers across the UK. Two programmes were to be commissioned initially, the first a management-level Equality and Diversity course, the second, an Impact Assessment course for specialists.

Solution

Righttrack researched and designed programmes that aligned fully with Forestry Commissions’ vision and values and with their Equality and Diversity policies. An initial programme of eight workshops proved very successful and the Commission extended the range of managers invited to attend. The impact assessment programme also involved work on supporting development of the process and standard formats to integrate into the training.

Result

The Forestry Commission has made very significant progress as a result of this work. Head of Learning and Development commented: “From the outset Righttrack worked with us in real partnership; they got to understand us as a business, the challenges we faced and delivered a training package that moved us forward in leaps and bounds."

Client requirement

Having demonstrated an in-depth understanding of the Equality and Diversity issues in the Service, and in the South West of England, Righttrack won the contract to deliver Equality & Diversity programmes in line with Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Authority (DSFRA) core competencies for over 100 uniformed staff.

Solution

A Righttrack Equality and Diversity specialist worked in partnership with DFSRA to design a creative and engaging programme. Using a range of training styles, the resulting programme was fully relevant to the roles of uniformed staff and ensured complete engagement from all delegates throughout delivery.

Result

The open and trusting training environment created by the Righttrack trainer proved to be highly successful in encouraging delegates to voice opinions and discuss a variety of views. More specifically, it enabled staff to understand and appreciate the importance and place of Equality and Diversity within the Fire Service functions of prevention, protection and response. Delegate feedback has been nothing but positive and their views have been reflected in a positive cultural change within DSFRS.

statoil logo

Client requirement

Statoil is an international energy company with over 35 years experience on the Norwegian continental shelf, today with operations worldwide. The London operation wanted to raise the level of awareness of Equality and Diversity legislation and compliance for its multicultural employees through interactive workshops for larger than usual groups of up to 25 delegates.

Solution

Righttrack researched and prepared a half-day workshop with actors playing out typical scenarios that were designed to touch 'nerve ends' and trigger debate. Facilitated by experienced Equality and Diversity specialists, the workshops were held morning and afternoon and were open to all staff allowing up to 50 to attend on each day.

Result

The programme received great response with a unanimous recognition of the importance of respecting the organisational Equality and Diversity policies. An electronic survey provided by Righttrack allowed Statoil to track the responses of delegates demonstrating the awareness raising and positive impact of the training.
